Canon was established in 1934 under a different name, and started to manufacture and market Kwanon cameras in 1936. 1978 saw Canon establish Canon Australia to take over the distribution of the wide range of Canon office equipment and cameras in this country. In 1985 Canon introduced the world's first bubble jet printer, the BC-80. This was a revolution in printing - prior to the bubblejet printer the choice was between dot matrix printers or high end production inkjet printers. For the first time people could print in full colour on plain paper at a reasonable price at home.
